Do you have an ugly holiday sweater and just do not know what to do with it?
Well, now you do. The Male Success Alliance plans to host an Ugly Sweater Mixer and Toy Drive Social Dec. 10 in the CSUDH Loker Student Union Ballroom.
“The purpose of The Ugly Sweater and Toy Drive is so that CSUDH can come together as (a) student body and collaborate on a toy drive that is going to directly impact the community around the university, Carson, Harbor City and Compton,” said MSA President Alex Guerrero.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and include games, food, dancing and, of course, an ugly sweater contest.
“The Trading Cards and Table Top Club will have a variety of games laid out for all the students who come,” Guerrero said. “The activities that will be taking place are a know the lyrics competition, and an ugly sweater contest, with first through third place prizes.”
The food at the social will be catered by the university and free of charge.
“The reason we chose the ugly-sweater theme was because it is a neutral holiday theme,” Guerrero said. “We did not want to associate the event with any specific holiday because we are trying to respect students who do not celebrate certain holidays.”
The event will be open to all CSUDH students. Cameron Jackson, also known as DJ Cam, will provide the music. Admission is free with the donation of an unwrapped toy.
“The expectation for us is just to give the university a huge social where students can come and have some fun before finals start up,” Guerrero said.
