Street Food is a culinary outreach program that aims to expose students to a variety of dishes from different cultures.
Campus Dining Services runs the program, which offers low-cost meals cooked and served under canopy-style tents.
The idea “initially stemmed from Taco Tuesday” and has developed to give students the “L.A. experience” by offering a variety of food, said Olympia Woods, marketing coordinator for Dining Services.
Chef of Cuisine Miguel Espindola and Sous Chef Hugo Lopez offer different options, including “pupusas,” which are stuffed El Salvadorian tortillas, and bacon-wrapped hot dogs.
Street Food is offered every other week, from Monday to Wednesday, at different locations. Taco Tuesday is still weekly.
Street Food is more like a “pop-up restaurant.” That means locations and dishes change in order to expose more students to the different tastes, Woods explained.
Street Food servers will also take part in Los Angeles Chargers games at StubHub Center. They will be located next to Lot 6 — look for a big white tent — during games. They served before and during the Chargers’ Sunday loss to the Miami Dolphins.
The maximum students will pay for an item is $6, sometimes less, depending on what they select.

Campus Dining can also be found on Toro Link, where the schedule is updated daily. It includes the time and place where the Street Food will be located on a given day.
